Fresh baked bread! OMG... Who can resist the allure of fresh baked bread straight from the oven? The homecooked goodness is simply irresistible!
Today, I’ll admit it... I've been a bit of a procrastinator when it comes to my writing. But hey, at least I’m working on the blog, right? That counts for something!
Aside from indulging in fresh baked goodies and a bit of procrastination, my day has been quite eventful, as usual. This morning, before the sun even peeked over the horizon, I stepped out of my front door in my trusty flip-flops (it’s Florida, after all) and found a copperhead right by my entrance! For those who don’t know, a copperhead is a venomous snake. Thankfully, I'm a country girl - through and through, I know exactly how to handle snakes - even the venomous kind. I’m grateful it was me who encountered it, and not my husband or kids, who are definitely not as comfortable with wildlife.
While most people are absolutely terrified of these creatures (snakes in general, I mean), that fear is a bit like the fear projected towards the psychic Kali in my "Warriors of Anaa - Tormented Souls" novel; people tend to fear things they do not understand. While these creatures are dangerous, I read an article last year that explained how there are scientific studies underway researching the use of certain snake venom to cure various types of cancer. As crazy as it may sound, each creature is here for a reason. My point of view is: SAFE relocation is always preferrable to termination.
You’d think that would be enough excitement for one day, but NOOO... why would things be that simple? When I returned inside, I discovered my dogs had been exceedingly overzealous in their attempt to lend me aide and had inadvertently knocked over the trash can. Of course, they are critters of opportunity and decided 'carpe diem' was the way to go. So, bath day for the pups came early this week, which is always an adventure in itself; the chihuahuas are easy (they just look at you like you betrayed them for a few hours before they forget all about it), but the big dogs are such crybabies about the water! It's ridiculous. Considering they love the beach and playing in the waves, you would think they would be excited for bathtime... nothing could be further from the truth! (LOL!)
To top it all off, the roles between me and my grandfather got hilariously reversed. He was blasting his favorite Christian church music (thanks to the playlist I made for him on Amazon Music), and there I was, yelling, “TURN IT DOWN!” I must admit, it gave me a new appreciation for all the times he yelled at me for blasting Bon Jovi, Eminem, Bruce Springsteen, Green Day, Celine Dion, ZZ Top, Kid Rock, DMX, Queen, Madonna, Trapt, Culture Club, Godsmack, and so many other great artists. Oh, the irony!
As the day winds down and the chaos settles, I find solace in sharing these moments with you, my wonderful readers. Life is a blend of unexpected adventures and simple joys, and I’m grateful to have you along for the ride. Until next time, may your days be filled with warmth, laughter, and a touch of the extraordinary.
